Our largest and most prestigious scholarship is in honor of pioneer Walnut resident, school teacher and community activist, Madoline Westhoff.
Madoline taught fourth and fifth grades at Walnut School until she retired in 1964. During her tenure there, she organized a hot lunch program for the students. She was also one of the fourteen founding members of Walnut Valley Women's Club.
WVWC sponsors one or two local high school sophomores to attend the three to four-day HOBY State Leadership Seminar. Through interactive workshops, the students learn techniques to improve their leadership skills.
